Minnesota Governor and vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz was involved in a secret romantic relationship with the daughter of a ranking member of the Chinese Communist Party while teaching in China in the 1980s, a new report alleges. Jenna Wang, the daughter of a CCP labor union chairman named Bin Hiu, claims that Walz “showered her with gifts” and “seduced her” behind her father’s back—but after the relationship soured, she was left feeling “like a prostitute.”

According to Wang, now 59, she first met Walz while working as a middle school English teacher in Foshan, China. After meeting Walz at one of his lectures in 1989, Wang “fell head over heels” for the future governor’s “eyes and his big mouth.” However, while the two spent time traveling together and were sexually active, the relationship had to be kept secret from Wang’s father, who would have disapproved.

“Tim was very passionate and very romantic. I can still remember dancing with him to our favorite song, ‘Careless Whisper,’” Wang told the Daily Mail in an exclusive interview. “The fact we couldn’t touch or kiss in public just made it all the more exciting and intense when we were finally alone.”

After carrying on the relationship for several years, Wang believed that Walz would eventually marry her and bring her to the United States.

“We were deeply in love and I wanted to marry him and start a family. When it didn’t happen, I felt very unhappy and sad,” she said. “Tim’s behavior was very selfish.”

When she pressed Walz on the subject in 1992, he became upset and suggested that she was only interested in using him to secure US citizenship.

“This was very offensive. I said to him that it is both or nothing,” Wang said. “I wasn’t giving up my life and my position to move to Nebraska, a cold place in the middle of nowhere that most Chinese people had never heard of.”

“I was giving it up to be with Tim, to get married and start a family,” she continued. “Knowing now that he wasn’t going to marry me made me feel cheap and common, as if I was being treated like a prostitute.”

After this conversation, she reportedly never saw Walz again. Years later, she moved to Europe to continue her teaching career.

Wang claims to have surfaced with this story now, just days before the election, because Walz “does not appear to have the character and integrity to do one of the most important jobs in the world.”

Given the implications of this relationship, as well as previous questions about Walz’s ties to China, prominent Republicans are calling for an investigation ahead of the election.

“If the story today in [the Daily Mail] is true, Tim Walz had a relationship with the daughter of a high ranking Chinese Communist Party official and remained in contact with her for years after,” said Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL). “If you aspire to be Vice-President of the United States, voters deserve to know everything about any and every link you have to the CCP,”

The Harris-Walz campaign has not responded to the allegations.
