Last week New York Congressman Rep. Jerry Nadler was approached by a reporter from The Epoch Times asking for his thoughts on the Ukrainian and Russian war, particularly on Ukraine using western F16s to strike Russian territory.

The reporter then asks, “Are you concerned that they will enter into Russian territory, as there have been recent reports of Belgorod that the border city, umm..” to which Nadler interrupted and responded.

Nadler: “I’m not concerned – I wouldn’t care if they did.”

Reporter: “You wouldn’t care if they went into Russia?”

Nadler: “Nope…I don’t think they’re going to do it in any such scale, but why should Russia feel that they can invade somebody else and have total safety from harm?”

The reporter then mentions that that would cause a crossing of the lines of a U.S. sanction invasion of Russia, and that the U.S. would be providing weapons that conducted that crossing, to which Nadler said that WE are not providing it (weapons) for that purpose, but that HE would “personally would not mind.”

Responses from other members of Congress have since emerged, including one from Representative Ilhan Omar:

There is no clear timeline as to when F-16s will be delivered to Ukraine. President Biden signed off on European countries delivering the Lockheed Martin-made aircraft, however, Ukrainian pilots still need to be trained, with that training estimating anywhere from a few months to two years.

Russia has mentioned that providing Ukraine with F-16s brings “colossal risks,” a warning brushed off by President Biden. In the early days of the war, NATO chose not to provide Kyiv with fighter jets over concerns Moscow would perceive the move as the alliance directly entering the war.

Time will tell what happens next.
