Just over a year ago, the country was mortified and sickened by the lack of action by the cops in Uvalde, Texas, when there was an active school shooter on campus. They were beyond inept, as a shooter killed 19 kids and two teachers.  The officers in Nashville who responded this week to a shooting luckily were cut from a different cloth.

They took out the shooter quickly after six people were murdered.  A Nashville police chief seemingly called out their colleagues in Texas, using them as an example of what not to do in a situation like this.

“As I said before, we will not wait. I was hoping this day would never ever come here in the city. But we will never wait to make entry and to go in and to stop a threat, especially when it deals with our children.”

The horrific scene in Texas might have ended differently if law enforcement had been more aggressive, like the Nashville cops who arrived at the school.

Chief John Drake also thanked the first responders for their bravery, saying they “immediately went in and addressed the threat of someone that had multiple rounds of ammunition, prepared for a confrontation with law enforcement, prepared to do more harm than what was actually done and were able to stop the threat.”

The entire Nashville police force has been commended for their excellent work on Monday, not only for killing the shooter before more lives were lost but for their open and thorough communication. Something that was also lacking in Texas last May.
