A recently published paper titled, “Age-Stratified Infection Fatality Rate of COVID-19 in the Non-Elderly Population” used data from 29 countries to calculate the COVID death rate for people under the age of 70.
The age group involved in the study accounts for the vast majority of global residents with those under the age of 70 accounting for 94 percent of the world’s population.
As stated in the paper, “The objective of this study was to accurately estimate the infection fatality rate (IFR) of COVID-19 among non-elderly people in the absence of vaccination or prior infection.”
That data revealed the following infection fatality rates (IFR) for the following age groups:
0-19 years old: 0.0003%
20-29 years old: 0.002%
30-39 years old: 0.011%
40-49 years old: 0.035%
50-59 years old: 0.123%
60-69 years old: 0.506%
0-69 years old: 0.063-0.082%
The survivability for the 0-69 age group is 99.92 to 99.94%
The study found that the IFR in the pre-vaccination era is exponentially lower than previously calculated, especially in the younger age groups. While the relative IFR risk increases three to four times for every 10 years one ages, the absolute risk is still miniscule since the starting point is 0.0003% among children and adolescents.
