A group of pro-Palestine protestors have shut down both lanes of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, as seen in footage that emerged Monday around noon. According to reports, traffic is also being blocked on the Interstate-880 in Oakland, California.

The protestors held banners reading “STOP THE WORLD FOR GAZA” and “END THE SIEGE ON GAZA NOW!” The presence of police vehicles at the site led to speculation that the demonstrators were given sanction from the city.

“A Civic Demonstration is affecting Golden Gate Bridge Southbound Direction into San Francisco. Expect delays and use alternate routes,” said the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management.

The protestors in Oakland were photographed chaining themselves to barrels in the middle of the road. Law enforcement swiftly cut the chains.

The Oakland Economic Blockade Against Palestinian Genocide, the activist group involved in the demonstration, said they are protesting alongside activists in 56 other cities worldwide.

Other groups involved in the San Francisco protests were Code Pink and A15Action, according to SF Gate.

Footage shared on social media showed protestors blocking the road to the Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
