Professional Dominican basketball player Óscar Cabrera Adames died suddenly last week after suffering a heart attack while undergoing a medically supervised stress test.

The 28-year-old athlete previously said he was diagnosed with myocarditis after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine as a requirement for work.

Social media posts surfaced after Cabrera Adames’ passing, suggesting the heart condition arose after he took two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. According to the American Heart Association, myocarditis can weaken the organ, causing a decrease in the heart’s capability of pumping blood.

“I got a damn Myocarditis from taking a f—ing vaccine. (I got 2 doses of Pfizer) And I knew it! Many people warned me,” Cabrera Adames stated on social media.

He went on to express his disdain for the basketball association’s vaccine requirement:

“But guess what? It was compulsory or I couldn’t work. I am an international professional athlete and I am playing in Spain. I have no health problem, nothing, not hereditary, no asthma, NOTHING! I suddenly collapsed to the ground in the middle of a match and almost died. I’m still recovering and I’ve had 11 different cardiology tests done and guess? They find nothing.”

During a 2021 Spanish Amateur Basketball League game, Cabrera Adames collapsed and was transported to the hospital on a stretcher. It remains unclear if the recent stress test was the direct cause of Cabrera Adames’ heart attack.
