Edgar Maddison Welch, known for the infamous 2016 incident at a DC pizzeria linked to the “Pizzagate” conspiracy, was shot and killed by police during a traffic stop in North Carolina on Saturday.

Welch, who had an outstanding warrant for a parole violation, was a passenger in a vehicle recognized by police. When officers attempted to arrest him, he pulled a handgun and aimed it at them, prompting two officers to fire their weapons.

Welch was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries two days later.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an ongoing inquiry into the shooting, and the involved officers are on administrative leave as per protocol.

Welch previously served four years in prison for firing an AR-15 inside  DC’s Comet Ping Pong, acting on a conspiracy theory that accused the establishment of running a child trafficking ring on behalf of Hillary Clinton and her campaign manager John Podesta.

At the time, Welch insisted that he was “standing up against a corrupt system that kidnaps, tortures, and rapes babies and children in our own backyard.” However, no credible evidence was ever found conclusively linking the pizzeria to child trafficking or any other criminal activity.
