A man is suing Meta and 27 women for defamation, slander, and libel, claiming they illegally published his personal details on a women-only Facebook group called “ARE WE DATING THE SAME GUY.”

Nikko D’Ambrosio hopes to win $75,000 and keep his name out of these women’s mouths for good (although the jury is still out on whether he’d be willing to settle for another form of oral compensation).

The 200+ subgroups of “Are We Dating The Same Guy,” or AWDTSG, are set up in most major American cities and cater to over 3.5 million scorned and bitter women around the country, encouraging them to air their dirty laundry and gossip about their bad dates. They claim they are only doing it to “help each other” because girls need to “stick together.”

Women protect women, they claim.

In reality, AWDTSG seems to be a source of never-ending entertainment for gals levying personal attacks on an agreed-upon sucker.

“He was lame,” “the sex was unremarkable,” “he didn’t take me to the right restaurant,” “he ghosted me,” and “his junk was way too small” are just a few things I came across while browsing the group’s posts…and all I did was search my own name!

Not only do the men have no way of defending themselves, but they also don’t even know they’re listed on these pages in the first place. After all, these groups are private and FOR WOMEN ONLY.

While this may be lighthearted fun for all the single cat ladies, being found guilty in the court of private opinion can have some serious repercussions for the unwitting guys. If you get listed on this page, you may get fired from work, embarrassed at family functions, and that cute Wal-Mart greeter may refuse to take you up on that date.

In 2024, dating already comes with significant challenges—and now it’s riskier than ever before. The reputational damage from these secret off-brand Yelp reviews could actually sink a fella’s hopes of finding a wife…and he’ll never even know what he did.

Traditionally, dating was all about spending a bunch of money to feed a stranger just to see if you had a little chemistry. Then, you’d do your best to plan out an entertaining evening, even if you barely knew the girl. Is she a vegan…Is she lactose intolerant…Did she used to be a man? These were the important questions.

Not long ago, social media users began circulating a list of the “19 places you should never take a girl on a first date.”  Cheesecake Factory, bowling, church, the movies, coffee, your parents’ house, and a dozen other options were to be avoided. Turns out, planning a date is even more complicated than ever.

If you’re lucky enough to get all of that right, you’d better tread lightly around the hot-button political issues just so you don’t ruin the entire evening.

Take, for example, the fashion trends that have women dressing provocatively in the gym, filming themselves doing squats, and then shaming men who look their way. Do you have a problem with that? Well, better keep it to yourself over dinner…

Did you happen to vote for the wrong guy in the last election? That could cost you even more.

Because of these obstacles, men are forming MGTOW groups (Men Going Their Own Way) where they boldly proclaim that they’d rather take themselves out of the dating pool entirely than risk being called a creepy, psycho clinger—or as Taylor Swift would say “a dirty, dirty cheat.”

Comedian Aziz Ansari famously experienced this when a date desperately tried to tie him to the #MeToo movement. She claimed the wine he offered her wasn’t her preference, and although she voluntarily pleasured him several times in his penthouse suite, she felt “rushed and pressured” because of the “celebrity power dynamic.” His accuser remained anonymous as she trashed him. He had to publicly experience the fallout—and all for the grave sin of trying to have a hot date.

All this is to say, dating was already a minefield, but social media turned it into the Gaza Strip with yoga pants. Kind of makes a guy want to sit in his room, lock the door, and simply go online for all his romantic needs… which might have been the plan from Big Tech all along.

A world where we all look but don’t touch. A society where we are only fans with no weekend plans.

If the groups were called “ARE WE MARRIED TO THE SAME GUY” these gals might have a point. But the court will soon decide on whether “ARE WE DATING THE SAME GUY” has to go.
