Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley officially suspended her campaign for president on Wednesday after winning just one of 15 state primaries on Super Tuesday.

During last night’s contests, Haley managed to take home a narrow win in the Vermont primary, which left her with 62 delegates after her win in Washington, DC two days prior. In that same time, former President Donald Trump secured 751 delegates, putting him within striking distance of the 1,215 needed to become the Republican nominee.

In her concession speech on Wednesday morning, Haley congratulated Trump on his win but stopped short of endorsing him. She had previously committed to supporting the eventual Republican nominee as a requirement for participating in the party’s primary debate, but on Sunday she insisted that she was “no longer bound” by that commitment.

“In all likelihood, Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee when our party convention meets in July,” she said. “I congratulate him and wish him well. I wish anyone well who would be America’s president. Our country is too precious to let our differences divide us. I have always been a conservative Republican and always supported the Republican nominee. But on this question, as she did on so many others, Margaret Thatcher provided some good advice, when she said, ‘never just follow the crowd, always make up your own mind.’”

“It is now up to Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party and beyond it who did not support him,” she continued. “And I hope he does that. At its best, politics is about bringing people into your cause, not turning them away. And our conservative cause badly needs more people. This is now his time for choosing.”

Haley continued by warning about the danger of rising national debt and the need for America to support its international allies.

Former President Trump celebrated the end of Haley’s campaign on his social media platform Truth Social, calling out his Republican rival for accepting support from Democrat voters and megadonors.

“Nikki Haley got TROUNCED last night, in record-setting fashion, despite the fact that Democrats, for reasons unknown, are allowed to vote in Vermont, and various other Republican Primaries,” Trump wrote. “Much of her money came from Radical Left Democrats, as did many of her voters, almost 50 percent according to the polls.”

Outgoing RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel congratulated both Trump and Haley on their campaign efforts, stating that “Republican voters have spoken loud and clear with historically large margins and we are more united than ever to beat Biden and Democrats up and down the ballot in November.”

She also acknowledged Trump as the party’s presumptive nominee now that he is running unopposed on the way to the Republican Convention in November.
