Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin is leading Gov. Kathy Hochul by 0.8 points, according to a new poll released late Monday.AP

SHOCKING! New Yorkers could see a Republican governor for the first time in 20 years.

A new poll reveals that GOP candidate for governor of New York, Lee Zeldin, is officially in the lead against Democratic rival Gov. Kathy Hochul.

Zeldin is leading by 48.4% to 47.6%, according to the Trafalgar Group poll released on Monday evening.

Only 4% of voters polled said they were still undecided on whom they would be voting for in the upcoming election on Nov. 8.

The Trafalgar poll of 1,198 likely voters, which was conducted between Oct. 27 and Oct. 31, had a margin of error of 2.9%.

Hochul was recently slammed for suggesting that Americans’ rising fear of crime was orchestrated by “master manipulators” in a national “conspiracy.”

Everything is a “conspiracy.” 🙄

Hochul also accused Zeldin and other Republican critics of being “data deniers.”

“Now we can all see what’s causing the panic in Camp Kathy. Her internal polls are showing this same massive momentum swing and she is flailing her arms in the surf trying to keep above water,” Councilman Joe Borelli (R-Staten Island), spokesman for a pro-Zeldin super PAC, told The New York Post.

Ron DeSantis Recently Endorsed Lee Zeldin For Governor of New York

Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis visited Long Island this past weekend to endorse Lee Zeldin for governor of New York.

Zeldin spoke before DeSantis, saying New Yorkers are leaving the state because it’s become too expensive, unsafe, and restrictive.

“We want to be able to say that we live in the greatest state in the greatest country of the world, but then we call up our friends and family in other places like Florida,” Zeldin said.

“And then they point out to us ‘doesn’t New York lead the country in out-migration?’ So how can you say that you live in the greatest state in the greatest country of the world?”

DeSantis made many comments about failing democratic leadership including former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio for the migration crisis.

“When de Blasio got elected mayor of New York, you know how much real estate in South Florida spiked when he got elected Mayor of New York City?” DeSantis joked.

“The crime problem has been totally self-inflicted — you cut police budgets, you do things like eliminate cash bail and you have rogue prosecutors who won’t even enforce laws that they agree with — of course, you’re going to have streets that are less safe,” DeSantis said.

“Of course, you are going to have people that aren’t able to do the basics without fearing for their safety. Stop turning criminals loose on the street. They’ll commit a crime and they put them right back out,” he went on. “Stop releasing people early from prison. If you do the crime, you must do the time.”

“We need to focus more on supporting the rights of the victims of crime and not be so concerned with the rights of the criminal. Lee Zeldin will not coddle these people. He will hold them accountable and you will be safer as a result.”

Governor DeSantis said people “are sick and tired of crime that you see, particularly in New York City.”
