Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced on Thursday that his office is preparing to file a lawsuit against the state of New York for its use of “unconstitutional lawfare” against former President Donald Trump.
“I will be filing suit against the State of New York for their direct attack on our democratic process through unconstitutional lawfare against President Trump,’ Bailey wrote in a X post announcing the suit. “It’s time to restore the rule of law.”
“We have to fight back against a rogue prosecutor who is trying to take a presidential candidate off the campaign trail. It sabotages Missourians’ right to a free and fair election,” he continued.

“Lawfare” refers to the use of an existing legal system to damage or unjustly prosecute an individual or infringe on their legal rights.
As Valuetainment previously reported last month, a Manhattan jury found former president Trump guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up alleged hush money payments to former porn star Stormy Daniels. Earlier in the year, Trump lost two back-to-back civil cases, both of which were litigated in New York. The ruling in his civil fraud case left him on the hook for more than $454 million, and he was ordered to pay $83 million to advice columnist E. Jean Carroll in a separate defamation suit.
Trump and his associates have long maintained that the cases against him are nothing more than political prosecution by the Biden administration, claiming that the prosecutors in each care are directly colluding with Trump’s rivals.
In May, ahead of Trump’s felony conviction, Bailey demanded that the Department of Justice “turn over communications relating to the illicit prosecutions of President Trump. This includes communications between the DOJ and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, New York AG Leticia James, and Fulton County DA Fani Willis.”
“Thanks to evidence that has come to light, my office has reason to believe Biden’s corrupt Department of Justice is the headquarters of the illicit prosecutions against President Trump,” he added.

On Thursday, Bailey also filed a separate lawsuit against IBM, alleging that the technology behemoth engages in discriminatory hiring practices that exclude White, Asian, and male applicants in the name of “diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
“Missourians deserve answers as to why one of the largest technology and consulting companies in the world, with offices based in Missouri, is discriminating against both prospective and current employees,” Bailey said.
