Governor Kristi Noem (R-SD), a top contender for the role of Donald Trump’s running mate, lost control of her emotions live on Fox News when anchor Stuart Varney questioned her about the passage in her memoir about shooting her 14-month-old farm dog, which has caused a scandal for her over the last few weeks.
“Enough, Stuart,” Noem replied after Varney asked her a second time to comment if Trump had questioned her about the dog passages. “This interview is ridiculous what you are doing right now. You need to stop.”

Noem was also unable to provide a satisfactory answer to the dog question while appearing on Face the Nation with host Margaret Brennan. Brennan also brought up a joke Noem made about killing President Joe Biden’s dog Commander for biting Secret Service agents; again, Noem was unable to navigate herself out of the questioning. Seeing the opportunity to do damage, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre seized on her comments, calling them “disturbing.”

“This morning in our 15-minute interview, Margaret Brennan interrupted me 36 times — once every 25 seconds on average,” Noem later wrote on X. “But when liberals like [Gretchen Whitmer] and [Nancy Pelosi] are on @FaceTheNation, they aren’t interrupted once. In the fake news media, there are two sets of rules, and conservative[s] are always treated differently. That’s why Americans don’t trust the Fake News.”
And now another controversy is engulfing Noem after it came to light that she claims in the memoir that she met North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, a claim she has refused to address. She repeatedly told the CBS morning show that she is removing it from the book, without confirming if it was true or a mistake added by a ghost writer.
“I’ve met with many, many world leaders. I’ve traveled around the world. I should not have put that anecdote in the book,” Noem finally admitted. “And at my request, they have removed it.”
Former Fox News host Eric Bolling attempted to save face for Noem, suggesting it was a “liberal plant” who added it in. “No, the buck always stops with me,” Noem answered. “I take my own full responsibility. I wrote this book and I take the responsibility for what’s in it.”
