Hollywood has two less scumbags amongst them – the once highly acclaimed and respected film producer, Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to another 16 years Thursday morning. This comes after the former movie mogul was convicted of three counts of rape and sexual assault and is already facing a 23-year sentence.

The former movie mogul was initially charged in Los Angeles on eleven counts of rape and sexual assault. He was convicted last December on three charges of rape and sexual assault with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lisa Lench ordering the second sentence to be served consecutively.

In his initial verdict, the judge sentenced Weinstein to 16 years for the three charges on which the jury found him guilty. “These are not easy decisions to make, but this is my decision,” Lench said.

The charges Weinstein was convicted of were based on counts relating to Jane Doe #1, a European model who testified being raped by Weinstein at Mr. C Hotel after the L.A. Italia Film Festival in 2013.

In similar fashion and timing, former rapper and songwriter, R. Kelly, was sentenced to a total of 30 years is federal prison for sexual exploitation and enticement of a minor.

Reactions on Twitter of both sentencings:

In Kelly’s initial verdict, federal prosecutors had asked U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber of the Northern District of Illinois to sentence him to 25 years in prison, saying Thursday that he was “a danger to society” whose “sexual abuse of minors was intentional and prolific.” Kelly’s attorney Jennifer Bonjean requested a sentence of 10 years, to be served alongside the New York sentence.

The full sentence included 19 years served consecutively with the New York sentence.

Leinenweber said he believed “sentencing should be sufficient but not greater than necessary,” adding that “everybody agrees that the nature of this offense is horrible, horrific.”

These two sentences have been long awaited and should have been brought to justice a long time ago. Thankfully, justice has been served, today. Hallelujah!
