Independent journalist Andy Ngo receives justice after the Antifa members who attacked him back in 2019 were ordered to pay $300,000 in damages.
The journalist was attacked during a violent outbreak in Portland, Oregon. Katherine Belyea, Madison Allen, and Sammich Overkill Schott-Deputy (formerly known as Joseph Evans) are being held accountable after Ngo requested for alleged assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The trio was accused of provoking the surrounding mob to ambush Ngo, hitting him over the head with a sign, dousing him with milkshakes, and throwing what Portland police warned to may have contained quick-drying concrete.
According to the lawsuit, Schott-Deputy was “one of the first to strike” Ngo while live-streaming the protest in May of 2019. Allen reportedly smashed Ngo’s head with a sign and Belyea dumped the milkshake on him.
“Those who wish harm on me, they always refer to it as the ‘milkshake incident’ to mock my injuries and celebrate it,” Ngo said during his testimony. “The near-death experience, for it to continually be a joke to violent extremists, it’s distressing and it’s scary.”
Ngo won his case from Multnomah County Circuit Judge Chanpone Sinlapasai after initially losing the civil lawsuit earlier this month against two other masked Portland activists over a different assault. However, John Hacker and Elizabeth Richter, the accused, showed up to court and the jury did not find them liable.

In a tweet posted by Ngo, he stated “Today’s victory is a small vindication for the disappointing jury verdict earlier this month at trial. Collecting on these judgments will pose serious challenges; however, I’m deeply grateful for the support of @liberty_ctr and my counsel Dorothy Yamamoto, Gregory Michael, James Buchal and @mark_trammell for believing in me, and helping me hold these attackers accountable for trying to violently silence my First Amendment rights.”
He added, “While it will continue to be a steep uphill battle to collect today’s awarded damages given the default defendants’ history of evasion, I remain determined to hold Antifa and its members accountable for their violent attacks.”
