Jorge Posada spent 17 seasons with the Yankees and won five World Series titles. Now the franchise legend says he doesn’t feel welcome.
“I don’t think they want me there, to tell you the truth,” Posada said on The Show podcast with the New York Post’s Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman. “I don’t feel welcome when I go there… even in spring training.” He traced the rift back to his difficult final season in 2011, when he was moved to designated hitter, dropped to ninth in the lineup, and clashed with the team. “I’d rather just move forward,” he said.
Then Brewers manager Pat Murphy took his own shot at the Yankees during Milwaukee’s World Series celebration, warning his players about joining a team where everyone plays for themselves. The panel breaks down what both moments say about the Yankees’ culture, and whether Brian Cashman should be reaching out to legends like Posada.
