Iran has officially begun its retaliatory strikes against Israel, sending a fleet of drones to attack the country that will take “several hours” to arrive as of Saturday evening, according to Israel’s military.

Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said Israel was prepared to fend off the onslaught.

As Valuetainment previously reported, Israel has been bracing for a revenge attack after several Iranian heads of state swore vengeance for the airstrike that killed two Iranian generals in Syria last week. Israel did not claim responsibility for the strike, but that is par for the course for their military operations.

A US official with intel from Israel, who spoke to the Associated Press (AP) anonymously, said Iran has sent “dozens” of aircraft, but said he could not go into more detail.

Earlier on Saturday, Israeli officials announced it will be placing temporary restrictions on gatherings of more than 1,000 people and indefinitely closing schools.

Hagari told the press that Israel is “prepared and ready” with both defensive and offensive strategies. He said Israel is in “tight” cooperation with the US and other allies.
