I think it’s safe to say that Mel Gibson has been an anti-establishment warrior in Hollywood since he directed “The Passion of the Christ” film in 2004.

Not only did the film cost roughly $30 million to make, the movie was a global sensation, grossing over $370.7 million in 2004 alone.

Gibson went on to make another global film hit, “Apocaplyto,” in 2006, and most recently, “Father Stu” with Academy-Award Nominee Mark Wahlberg as his lead. Since then, Gibson has been quiet in the directional scene — until now.

Gibson trended on social media this week over reports that the actor is brewing up a four-part docuseries exposing the multi-billion-dollar global child sex trafficking market.

“Mel Gibson is allegedly making a 4-part docuseries on the $34 billion global child sex trafficking market involving countries like Ukraine,” the Leading Report Twitter page first reported. The tweet has been viewed over 8.1 million times with tens of thousands of people liking, commenting, and retweeting the news.

Freelance journalist Katherine Brodsky claimed the validity of the Leading Report is not “breaking news” because they have no alleged credible source.

“Not only does this tweet specifically mention ‘countries like Ukraine’ leaving out any other where child sex trafficking is a huge issue (like Russia and India), but suspiciously a search reveals that there’s no other source for this ‘breaking news’ aside from this tweet,” Brodsky tweeted.

To make things clear: although multiple messages and photos have been linked towards the possibility, Gibson working on a project like this is pure speculation, and nothing has been confirmed.
