A year before this podcast, former Green Beret Dan Simmons says his back problems were so extreme he wasn’t sure he’d ever walk again, living at a pain level that wasn’t sustainable, not sleeping and literally passing out from pain daily.
He describes having to hand that season over to God—telling Him he’d do whatever was asked but honestly asking how much more he was capable of enduring after 20 years in Special Forces, a toll he jokes is conveniently left out of the recruiting brochure.
