Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton saw her feminist musical Suffs bomb at the Broadway box office, despite receiving multiple Tony Award nominations and receiving flattering coverage by the media. Rather than getting sold out, it played to about 80 percent capacity this week and about 78 percent last week.

The musical is nearly three hours long and features a 100 percent female and “non-binary” cast. Clinton and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda hosted an April 3rd fundraiser for President Joe Biden with tickets priced at $500 to $5,000, according to Deadline, with proceeds going to the Biden Victory Fund and the Women’s Leadership Forum. The fundraiser also featured a performance from Suffs.

Suffs was authored by Shaina Taub, a Broadway actress and composer. It was produced by Jill Furman and Rachel Sussman and co-produced by Hillary Clinton and Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ niece, Meena Harris, is the founder of one of Suffs’ financial partners, the Theatre Fund.

The synopsis of Suffs reads: “Reaching across and against generational, racial, and class divides, these brilliant, flawed women entertain and inspire us with the story of their hard-won victory in an ongoing fight. So much has changed since the passing of the Nineteenth Amendment over a century ago, and yet we’re reminded sometimes we need to look back, in order to march fearlessly into the future.”
