Goose Island IPA Announces 2023 Bourbon County Stout Lineup

Goose Island Beer Co. announced its release of six varieties of Bourbon County Brand Stout IPAs debuting within the Barrel House series ahead of Thanksgiving. Each year, the Chicago-based brewery released its slate of stout beers aged in bourbon barrels made available nationally but only procurable in the Chicago area.

The six flavors offer tasteful notes ranging from what some critics are describing as “biscotti, tiki drinks, cola and strawberry ice cream bars,” claiming that if there was one word to describe the series, it would be “safe.”

Goose Island IPA’s parent company Budweiser re-released two of its fan-favorite flavors, with four new and exciting flavors aiming to make their own mark in the beer world.

1. 2023 Bourbon County Brand Original Stout

• Style: Stout aged in bourbon barrels
• Hops: Millenium
• Flavor: Vanilla, cocoa, cherry, caramelized sugar, almond

2. 2023 Bourbon County Brand Eagle Rare 2-Year Reserve Stout

• Style: Stout aged for two years in ten-year Eagle Rare bourbon barrels
• Hops: Millenium
• Flavor: Robust oak, toasted almond, warming vanilla

3. 2023 Bourbon Brand Angel’s Envy 2-Year Cask Finish Stout

• Style: Stout aged in Angel’s Envy bourbon barrels finished in Ruby Port wine barrels
• Hops: Millenium
• Flavor: Cherry, spice, cocoa
• Nationwide in select markets

4. 2023 Bourbon County Brand Bananas Foster Stout

• Style: Stout aged in bourbon barrels with bananas, almonds, cassia bark and natural flavors
• Hops: Millenium
• Flavor: Ripe bananas, toasted almond, brown sugar, cinnamon

5. 2023 Bourbon County Brand Backyard Stout
