Rivera had recently revealed that he was leaving his co-hosting gig on The Five, after being “fired” from the late-afternoon panel show.

“Bumpy day on the North Atlantic. Anyway, I got fired from @TheFive so I quit Fox,” Rivera wrote alongside a video of him boating. “After 23 years tomorrow Fox and Friends could be my last appearance on the network. Thanks for the memories.”

According to the Daily Beast, Rivera had shared with them that he was “not mad at anybody” and is “looking forward to the next adventure.”

A Fox spokesperson shared with The Guardian in a statement that Rivera and the network had “reached an amicable conclusion with Geraldo over the past few weeks.” The statement said that his appearance on Fox and Friends Friday morning would be his last appearance on the channel.

“I love Fox, I love the people at Fox, I always will,” the 79-year-old said. “I’ll never let anyone separate us, but I am beyond grateful for this. This is so deeply affecting. I love you for it – thank you.”

Rivera has had a length career with Fox News, having joined the network a few months after the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001. His show Geraldo at Large gave way to his co-hosting at The Five, “playing the liberal treading water in a sea of conservatives.”
