Donald Trump returned to Twitter for the first time since January 2021 Thursday night.

The reason? To post a meme of his mugshot the night of his arrest in Fulton County, GA.

Trump’s last post on the social media platform now known as X was on Jan. 8, 2021, two days after the riot on Capitol Hill when Trump supporters infiltrated the halls of Congress to protest the ratification of the 2020 election results. “To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th,” the tweet read.

Trump was subsequently banned from Twitter that day, with the platform explaining it was “due to the risk of further incitement of violence.” The company released a blog post on its website about the decision, claiming that they had closely reviewed Trump’s tweets and found that they were in violation of their platform rules. The company felt that the posts “and the context around them” were being interpreted in dangerous ways.

People went wild on Twitter in response to both the already-legendary mugshot and the former president’s tweet.
