As if this day could not be any more of a shock in the mainstream news media world, CNN anchor Don Lemon has been terminated from CNN on Monday. His termination comes after roughly 17 years with the news network.

Lemon took to Twitter to express his thoughts after having heard about his termination, not from the network but from his agent.

“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN, I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play. With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best.”

The news comes shortly after Variety published a story earlier this month with allegations that he mistreated female colleagues over the course of his career.

According to the publication, on more than one occasion, “Live From” producers and supervisors have had to pull Lemon off of the air during commercial breaks because of the anchor’s “provocative antics,” as well as his declaration that the 51-year-old Nikki Haley isn’t a viable presidential candidate because she “isn’t in her prime.”

According to Variety, “Amid the charged atmosphere, sources say Lemon disrespected colleague Nancy Grace on the air and Soledad O’Brien during an editorial meeting attended by roughly 30 staffers.”

This is a developing story. Valuetainment will keep an eye out for further developments.
