Bob Iger has the reputation for being a brilliant chief executive.

He’s legendary in Hollywood circles for his success in his previous tenure running Disney.  Since he took over the top job less than a year ago, he seems to be re-writing his legacy, as a series of flops to the tune of $900 million in losses have people wondering if being front and center in pushing a woke agenda is more important than profits.

The past eight releases from Disney ranged from underperforming to flat-out disasters, and the one thing the films have in common outside of losing money is the woke-themed content.

One thing to keep an eye on is how long this will continue now that Latondra Newton, Disney’s chief of diversity, has left the company. Her leadership pushed Disney into moving away from their family-friendly fare to push her progressive agenda by introducing gay, transgender, and non-binary characters into the storytelling.

Under Newton’s watch, Disney gave Minnie Mouse a makeover as she appeared to raid Hilary Clinton’s closet, stole a blue pantsuit, and moved away from the traditional red and white polka-dot dress the character had been known for.

A YouTube content creator known as “Valiant Renegade” has been at the forefront of reporting on Disney’s slew of disappointing movies, and in a recent video, pointed out the films that have flopped, including “Lightyear,” “The Little Mermaid,” Elemental,” and “Strange World,” which generated just $28 million in box office revenue, falling over $120 million short of projections.

Megyn Kelly pointed out on her podcast Friday that many major studios and streamers are dumping their diversity chiefs who have led the shift in content that has become so prevalent. Verna Myers was the head of inclusion at Netflix until she stepped down. According to reports, Warner Brothers Discovery fired their VP of diversity, equity, and inclusion, Karen Horne.

Kelly told her audience that reality is catching up with the studios as they see that millions of people are sick of being preached to instead of being entertained.

“Bit by bit, all these media companies and big tech companies are eliminating their heads of diversity because it’s just a wasted position where somebody just glorifies their wokeness. So it’s failing.”
