So, you’re polling at 0-1%. Every other candidate is beating you. And I’m talking about the ones who announced and the ones who haven’t.

Vivek Ramaswamy, Nikki Haley, Asa Hutchinson, all ahead of her.

And Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, Chris Sununu? They haven’t announced yet. But they’re ahead of her too.

But still, former Congresswoman Liz Cheney looks like she’ll be throwing her hat into the presidential ring.

How can I tell that? She’s begun airing ads against Trump in New Hampshire. Of course, she might just be making a nuisance. But you have to read the tea leaves carefully. 2 months ago, I called RFK Jr’s announcement. Valuetainment was ahead of the curve on this one by 5 weeks.

The ad, from Cheney’s political action committee, says “Donald Trump is the only president in American history who has refused to guarantee the peaceful transfer of power. He lost the election and he knew it. Rather than accept his defeat, he mobilized a mob to come to Washington and march on the Capitol. Donald Trump has proven he is unfit for office.” Take a look:

During Cheney’s concession speech after she got knocked out of the primary for her re-election, she said her future was unclear but that she would do all she could to stop Trump from becoming president again. She noted her future specifically was unclear.

Since then, she has flat out refused to rule out a presidential run. The finances of the PAC are not disclosed, but expect them to be within six digits at the very least.

For a candidate to support that much spending, and to have her as the narrating voice of the ad, shows Cheney wants to put some investment in an early primary state. It shows that she’s running for president, and is just sitting on the actual announcement.

Time will tell if my bluff is called or not. I did get it wrong about Glenn Youngkin. He decided not to run for president.

But Cheney is investing too much too early to turn back now.
