President Joe Biden is expected to announce plans tonight during his State of the Union address for the US military to construct a pier off the coast of Gaza to deliver aid to the Palestinians.

It is not yet known if Israel will be participating in the construction of the floating pier, an effort that the Biden administration is calling an “emergency mission.”

The pier will get around the sealed Egyptian border and permit tons of food and other supplies to be delivered to Palestinians, who are suffering amid Israel’s war with the terrorist group Hamas. Israel is also constantly bombing the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Insiders told The New York Times that the construction will take several weeks and will possibly require thousands of US troops to participate. The Biden administration aims to remain consistent with the president’s mandate to keep US troops out of the Gaza Strip. The insiders did say the pier will be a joint effort involving other unspecified nations.

The Times predicts that the military will build the pier on US ships and then install it after the fact, as would be consistent with past projects of its nature. Currently, there are only two ways by which aid can reach the war-torn strip.

This follows from recent orders from Biden to deliver aid to Gazans by air; the fourth load of aid was dropped into Gaza today by US pilots.
