Images of suspected cartel gunmen sneaking into the United States and evading law enforcement over the weekend have called new attention to the crisis at the southern border. The photos obtained by Fox News show men in body armor carrying rifles near the Fronton, Texas area, sparking a wave of criticism for the Biden administration’s “open border” policies.

The black-and-white trail camera footage was first uploaded by Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin. Though grainy, the images clearly show three men carrying rifles and wearing backpacks and body armor sneaking through the brush. “Elite Border Patrol BORTAC agents were called out & searched [the] area, but found nobody,” Melugin wrote in a tweet accompanying the photos.

In a follow-up post, Melugin further explained that Fronton, Texas is a frequent cartel hotspot, and “another group of cartel gunmen…were arrested there in June.”

These posts quickly went viral, drawing vocal criticism of the Biden administration’s failure to secure the country’s borders.

Foremost among those critics were Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, two Republican presidential hopefuls that have made border security central to their campaigns.

“Another example of why I will authorize use of deadly force at the border,” said DeSantis. “Are we supposed to just let these dangerous criminals invade our country?”

“I refuse to be a compliant puppet sitting in the White House,” Ramaswamy echoed. “As Commander-in-Chief, I will move the military to our border starting in January 2025 to end the cartel-aided invasion.”

Similar condemnation came from Texas Senator Ted Cruz, Oklahoma Rep. Stephanie Bice, and other congressional Republicans.

The National Border Patrol Council, the union that represents Border Patrol officers, blamed Biden officials by name for the crisis: “Here is what [President Joe] Biden, [Vice President Kamala] Harris, [Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro] Mayorkas and their MSM [mainstream media] don’t want you to see. It’s called “reality.”

During a recent episode of the PBD Podcast, Patrick Bet-David and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez discussed the ongoing crisis of human trafficking in Florida and at the southern border.
