Ocasio-Cortez’s comments come as several high-ranking officials, including NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban and Schools Chancellor David Banks, have announced their resignations amidst these investigations, which reportedly include scrutiny over campaign financing and potential foreign donations. In contrast, City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams has expressed support for the mayor, stating she believes he can still govern effectively.
The investigations have raised questions about Adams’ ability to lead, particularly as they probe connections to foreign entities. Despite the mounting pressure, Adams has claimed he is not stepping down and continues to bring in new personnel to his administration.
