News of the administering of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID vaccine was being shut down in numerous states across the U.S. dominated the morning on Tuesday, but later in the day Pfizer made an announcement that they will be able to increase their production.
CEO Albert Bourla said they have the capability to deliver a total of 300 million doses to the U.S., which is 10% more than they had agreed to deliver by the end of May.
Essentially, they will deliver the entire amount two weeks early.
The reason for Johnson & Johnson’s shutdown was the fact six women have developed a rare blood clotting disorder. One of the women has died from it, and another is in critical condition.
There should be plenty of shots provided by Pfizer and Moderna to accommodate everyone that wants a shot in the U.S. Both companies have said they have the capability to deliver 300 million shots by the end of July.
New York is one state that will now switch to Pfizer for their vaccine in place of Johnson & Johnson.
