Harvard University is known as quite possibly the most elite university in America. It would be in the running for the “most woke” institute of higher learning as well.

A petition is making its way around the Cambridge, Massachusetts campus that calls for revoking degrees from Trump supporters and aides who graduated from this elite Ivy League school. More specifically, that would include Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, Republican Representative Dan Crenshaw of Texas, and President Trump’s White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

The name of the petition is “Revoke their Degrees,” and is the brainchild of four students that are enrolled in Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government according to Fox Business.

Harvard confirmed the petition exists, and is reportedly gaining traction. The petition refers to Cruz, Crenshaw and McEnany as “violent actors,” and calls to have their Harvard degrees taken away from them so they can be “held accountable for their alleged actions.”

The petition attempts to make the argument that attaining a Harvard degree is a privilege, not a right, and subject to be taken away of graduates violate certain laws or societal norms. Of the three Republicans listed in the petition, none are being investigated for having anything to do with the Capitol riots.

Well known attorney Alan Dershowitz is the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law, Emeritus at Harvard Law School.  He told Fox Business this petition would probably be crushed in court if it ever made it that far. “It would be illegal and highly immoral to revoke a degree based on constitutionally protected actions like former students merely supporting the president. And the end result would be to jeopardize federal funding” because the university would then become a de facto political institution.”
