President-elect Donald Trump called on President Joe Biden during a Monday press conference to halt the sale of unused southern border wall materials, which are being auctioned at significantly reduced prices.
First reported by the Daily Wire late last week, the Biden administration, allegedly following a congressional mandate, has been selling the materials through online auctions, with some states like California and Texas acquiring portions for repairs. Sources within the US Border Patrol confirm that construction materials and equipment are primarily being taken from Nogales, Tucson, and Three Points, which are all migration hotspots.
Biden’s goal is said to be selling off all the materials by Christmas–a move that would come as a significant setback for Trump’s plans for a finalized border wall.
Trump criticized this as “almost a criminal act,” emphasizing the high future costs of rebuilding the wall, which would be necessary if these materials are not available. Trump announced potential legal actions, such as a restraining order, to prevent further sales and has engaged with Texas officials to address the issue.

“The administration is trying to sell it for five cents on the dollar knowing that we’re getting ready to put it up,” Trump said during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago. “What they’re doing … It’s almost a criminal act. They know that we’re going to use it and if we don’t have it we’re going to have to rebuild it and it will cost double what it cost years ago and that’s hundreds of millions of dollars.”
“I spoke with the Attorney General of Texas, I spoke with the Senators of Texas, I spoke to a lot of people and hopefully they’ll be able to stop it. We’re going to be having a restraining order,” Trump added. “I am asking Joe Biden today to please stop selling the wall.”

This situation arises amidst Trump’s preparations to assume office and continued critique of the Biden administration’s policies.
Valuetainment reported in April 2023 that similar auctions were already underway well before Trump’s reelection, with unused materials sold off for pennies on the dollar in an apparent end-run around Republican legislators who supported building the wall during Biden’s term.
