A federal judge has ordered the deletion of photographs of notes seized from Sean “Diddy” Combs’ jail cell, ruling that they may contain attorney-client privileged material. This comes amid accusations from prosecutors that Combs attempted to influence witnesses while facing serious federal charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering.

Combs’ defense argues that the seizure of these notes constitutes an egregious breach of privilege and has raised concerns about the legality of the search conducted during a prison sweep. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that the materials, which included defense strategy notes, were likely protected by attorney-client privilege, despite prosecutors arguing that they were not.

The judge will further review the materials to determine what can be protected under attorney-client privilege. If deemed improperly obtained, the defense may seek to dismiss the indictment or recuse the prosecution team. As a result of this ruling, prosecutors will need to revise their strategy for the trial, which is set to begin on May 5.

Combs has pleaded not guilty and maintains his innocence against all allegations.
