The US Secret Service is ending protection for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK) after he suspended his presidential campaign on Friday and backed Republican candidate former President Donald Trump.
President Joe Biden had authorized protection for Kennedy following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in July. RFK, who has experienced several security threats and had lobbied for protection, announced he was suspending his campaign in 10 battleground states but not terminating it. Later that day, he endorsed Trump and clarified that he plans to remain on the ballot in less competitive states, which is likely to pull votes away from Vice President Kamala Harris.
