Country singer Zach Bryan deactivated his X (formerly Twitter) account and issued an apology on Instagram after receiving backlash for tweeting ‘Kanye > Taylor’ and ‘eagles > chiefs,’ referencing Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, NFL player Travis Kelce. Bryan clarified that he was drunk at the time and did not intend to insult Swift, expressing his admiration for her music.

He explained that he was going through a hard time and was ‘projecting,’ and promised to stay off Twitter to avoid further trouble.

Despite his apology, Swift’s fans, known as Swifties, were largely unforgiving. Bryan’s controversial comments come amidst Kanye West’s ongoing public fallout over previous antisemitic remarks.
