Mike Baker is a former British CIA officer who spent more than a decade working in intelligence and security.
Born in 1963, Baker grew up in England and attended university in the United States, where he earned a degree in international relations.
After graduation, Baker joined the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the 1980s and served as an operations officer for over 14 years.
During his time at the CIA, Baker specialized in counterterrorism, working on a number of high-profile cases including the hunt for Osama bin Laden.
In 1996, Baker left the CIA and co-founded his own private intelligence and security firm, Diligence LLC, which provided risk assessment and investigation services to clients around the world.
The company quickly gained a reputation for its expertise in emerging markets, particularly in Africa and the Middle East.
Baker’s experience in the field of intelligence and security made him a sought-after commentator on national security issues, and he has appeared on numerous television programs and news outlets as an expert on global security matters. He is also a regular contributor to the BBC, CNN, and Fox News.
In addition to his work in the private sector, Baker has also been involved in various philanthropic efforts, including supporting education initiatives in Africa and working with non-profits focused on human rights issues.
Baker’s career has not been without controversy, however. In 2013, he was criticized for his involvement in the UK’s controversial Prevent program, which aims to prevent extremism and radicalization. Some critics claimed that the program unfairly targeted Muslim communities and violated civil liberties.
Despite this, Baker’s expertise in intelligence and security remains highly valued, and he remains to be a prominent figure in the world of global security.
