Warner Bros. has finalized a $50 million deal with Ketchup Entertainment for the worldwide distribution rights to the long-shelved film “Coyote vs. Acme,” which is set for a theatrical release in 2026.
The film features Wile E. Coyote, who sues Acme Corporation over its faulty products that have failed to help him catch the Road Runner, and stars Will Forte and John Cena, among others.

Though the film had completed production and was ready for theatrical release, the project was shelved in 2023 amid cost-cutting measures at Warner Bros., which opted to take a tax write-off instead of releasing it. Two other films, the $90 million DC Studios production “Batgirl” and the animated “Scoob! Holiday Haunt, were also canceled.
Ketchup Entertainment’s CEO expressed excitement about bringing the film to audiences, highlighting its blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling.
“We’re thrilled to have made a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring this film to audiences worldwide,” Gareth West, chief executive of Ketchup Entertainment, said in a statement. “‘Coyote vs Acme’ is a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, capturing the essence of the beloved Looney Tunes characters while introducing them to a new generation.”
The sudden resurrection of the Loony Toons project represents a recovery for a project many believed would never see the light of day. The deal not only revives Wile E. Coyote’s story but also marks a significant turnaround for Warner Bros’s approach to previously abandoned projects.
