A Ukrainian village councilor bombed a government meeting with hand grenades on Friday, wounding 26 individuals, according to Agence France Presse (AFP).
National police told the outlet that the Ukrainian secret service (SBU) launched a terrorism investigation into the matter. The bombing occurred in the headquarters of the village Keretsky in the Zakarpattia region of western Ukraine.
The video recording, which was being live streamed, was uploaded to social media platform Telegram, a popular app in the Russian-Ukrainian war. The man entered the room which was in the middle of an argument — according to AFP, the discussion had been ongoing for over 1.5 hours. He produced three grenades from his person and dropped them on the floor in quick succession, causing explosions as the village officials screamed in horror.
“As a result, 26 people were wounded, six of whom are in a grave condition,” a statement from the police said.

The perpetrator is alive and currently in the custody of the police as medics attempt to resuscitate him. Police have not yet revealed the identity of the man to the press. As the AFP reports, many Ukrainian civilians now have access to weaponry due to the war.
Earlier this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told Fox News host Bret Baier, to much uproar, that local officials in his nation such as mayors of cities and villages should not be spending money on building roads and bridges. Instead, he said, they should be dedicating all of their funds to the war effort.
