In a special Thursday afternoon episode of the PBD Podcast, former CIA officer and security expert Mike Baker joined Patrick Bet-David to discuss the latest updates from the Israel-Hamas war. The discussion also featured an update from Jewish liaison Jason Lyons live from Jerusalem as the Holy City holds its breath for the coming storm.

Here are some of the major updates from the latest episode:

1. “Calm Before the Storm” – An On-the-Ground Update from Israel

Jason Lyons, former chairman of the United States-Israel Security Alliance, called in to give the Home Team the latest progress reports from Israel. Backdropped against the ancient city of Jerusalem, Lyons described Israel’s preparations for a full-scale operation against the “barbaric” forces of Hamas.

Israel has a long track record of trying to mitigate collateral damage in its campaign against Hamas…but the IDF’s “new playbook” might spell disaster for the people of Gaza. “Palestinians have nowhere to go now,” Lyons said.

He also assessed the emergency government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has seen a major upswing in public support following the invasion. As Lyons stated, “Winds change quickly in Israel,” and Netanyahu may be the one person who can hold Israel together through this crisis.

2. “The Complete Destruction of Israel” – The Organizational Goals of Hamas

According to Hamas’ original founding charter, the destruction of Israel is the organization’s main goal. Since the militant group took power in Gaza in 2007, this goal has shaped the culture in Palestine even as their birthrates increase.

As the war escalates, so does the public relations campaign around it. Israel’s retaliation threatens to destroy international support for their cause, but with the nation’s very existence on the line, they may have no choice but to increase their crackdown on Gaza.
