Actor Jeremy Strong known for his role in HBO’s “Succession” praised climate activists affiliated with the Climate Emergency Fund (CEF) for disrupting the public. CEF, which Strong donates to, is in the process of organizing activists to kick-start a new wave of protests, according to E&E who first reported the story.

Strong joined a Zoom call with the donors of CEF last week, during which they discussed a planned protest of a UN climate summit set to occur in New York City on Sept. 20. “All eyes are on New York,” Strong said. They also discussed several other protest plans including their intention to target prominent lawmakers and other leaders for not implementing more extreme climate policies.

The UN protest, dubbed the “March to End Fossil Fuels,” aims to organize 50,000 protestors from all over America, according to CEF program officer Russell Gray. Organizers hope the event will inspire thousands of new activists.

Strong said he will attend the protest: “I plan to be there in September, and I hope that you guys on this call can be there as well and can help support these incredible activists, financially—in any way that you can.”

He went on: “For the next brief amount of time, it’s not too late. So there is still time for us to take action and do something.Strong complained that the United States is “still the largest producer of oil and gas in the world” and is “expanding currently our fossil fuel infrastructure” and stressed the need for President Joe Biden to declare “a climate emergency.”

The Climate Emergency Fund (CEF) also funds activist groups such as Just Stop Oil, which have engaged in stunts like blocking city traffic and throwing soup at famous paintings.

Speculated by Cosmopolitan to be worth $6 million, Strong was listed as a key donor to CEF in its 2022 annual report. Other major donors have included Hillary Clinton’s Onward Together Foundation, billionaire heiress Aileen Getty, screenwriter and former attorney for Harvey Weinstein Adam McKay, and Abigail Disney, according to the report and The Daily Caller.
