Russia Has Lost More Than 500,000 TROOPS

For comparison, 405,399 U.S. service members died during World War II, including 291,557 battle deaths. That means the current U.K. estimate for Russian military deaths in Ukraine exceeds America’s total military death toll from WWII. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial contains 58,318 names, while the Korean War resulted in 36,574 U.S. in-theater deaths. Those figures help illustrate the extraordinary scale of Russia’s estimated losses, although comparing wars across different eras has important limitations.
