President Joe Biden spent more than a third of 2023 on vacation, according to a new report from The New York Post.
The Post reviewed a series of public records disclosing Biden’s travels and found that he spent 138 days—37 percent of the year—on vacation. He spent 90 of them at either one of his Delaware vacation homes, whether it was his beach getaway at Camp David or his swanky residence in the suburb of Greenville. However, he only used “official vacation time” on 22 days out of the year. This time was dedicated to his glorious holiday circuit of St. Croix in the Caribbean, Lake Tahoe in the California-Nevada mountains, and Nantucket Island in Massachusetts.
In fact, Biden is currently on vacation in the U.S. Virgin Islands as of this writing.
However, Biden’s vacation-taking slightly declined in 2023, as he spent 38 percent of 2022 on trips to the same host of locations.

The White House has officially acknowledged Biden’s frequent vacationing and argues that he can seamlessly work remotely from any one of these places.
“The President has taken 16 days of vacation this year, and even on those days, he has worked,” Deputy Press Secretary Olivia Dalton told The Post. “Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Americans saw the President hold a slew of foreign head of state calls before announcing a deal to release hostages from Gaza the very next day. The fact is: the President works every single day of the week whether he is in Washington, Delaware, Camp David, or anywhere else — and those around him and reporters who cover him closely know that.”
Dalton also took a shot at Congressional Republicans in her email to The Post. “These fictitious attacks on the President are all the more absurd coming from Republicans in Congress, who left town in December without doing their job to fund the government or our national security priorities,” she said.
Biden’s vacationing record outranks all recent presidents. The runner-up is George H. W. Bush, who spent 36 percent of his presidency away from work according to a previous review of records. Donald Trump spent a total of 26 percent of his time in the White House on vacation.
