A new poll from the Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research indicates a significant increase in confidence among Republicans regarding election security and the accuracy of the 2024 vote count following Donald Trump’s victory.
About 60% of Republicans now express a high level of confidence that last year’s presidential election votes were counted correctly, a notable rise from just 20% in October.

Confidence in state vote counts has also surged, with two-thirds of Republicans expressing trust, compared to only 40% prior to the election.
This shift contrasts sharply with the skepticism observed post-2020 election when two-thirds of Republicans believed Joe Biden was not legitimately elected.

The current sentiment marks a departure from the unrest witnessed during the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, which were fueled by widespread claims of election fraud.
Overall, the poll reflects a broader increase in Americans’ trust in the electoral process, with 60% now confident in the election’s accuracy, up from 50% in October.
