On Tuesday’s episode of the PBD Podcast, Patrick Bet-David was joined by progressive commentator Cenk Uygur, founder and co-host of the Young Turks. Together with the rest of the VT Home Team, PBD and Uygur discussed some of the biggest issues in today’s news cycle—and issues don’t get any bigger than corruption. Ukraine corruption, media corruption, Biden corruption, Trump corruption, this episode tackled it all.
Here are some of the main takeaways from today’s episode:
1.“He’s Full-Blown Nuts!” – Trump, Oppenheimer, and World War III
PBD and Uygur started the show by discussing their thoughts on “Oppenheimer,” the latest Christopher Nolan film centered on the man behind the atomic bomb. But the epic three-hour biopic did more than just entertain moviegoers this weekend. The film sparked a major public discussion about nuclear threats, and in light of world events, that threat seems more urgent than ever.
The Russia-Ukraine war shows no sign of ending, the United States is being pulled further into the conflict, and Uygur is convinced that having Donald Trump back in the White House would lead to a nuclear catastrophe. “He’s full-blown nuts!” Uygur insisted. Rather than delivering on his promise to “end the conflict in 24 hours,” Uygur said Trump would only make the problem worse…but that doesn’t mean Biden is doing a good job either.
According to exclusive footage obtained by Valuetainment of former four-star General Stanley McChrystal (Ret.), “America’s policy is…unofficially…regime change in Russia.” That may sound speculative, but alarming evidence indicates that he might be right. PBD and Uygur then discuss the much bigger question: If Putin is gone, who’s going to take his place?

2.“Unstable, Uncontrollable” – Is Trump Part of the Corrupt Establishment?
Uygur emphatically stated that former President Donald Trump is “unstable.” PBD said the former president is “uncontrollable.” While that might sound like they’re saying the same thing, they most definitely did not agree about what that means for Trump’s character.
When Trump had trouble drawing in mainstream corporate donors, he had to look elsewhere to raise money for his campaign. PBD saw that as the best evidence for Trump being a political outsider; Uygur just saw it as another kind of corruption. The TYT founder thinks Trump is a “total loser” and “a wannabe dictator” who threatens democracy—and he also agrees with Hillary Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” remark!

3.“Joe Biden vs Jim Jeblowski” – Will Democrats Drop Biden?
“Democrats are hungry for anyone who isn’t Joe Biden,” Uygur said. He even had poll results to prove it. The success of candidates like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson shows that the Democrat base is shifting away from the current president.
Uygur said that if Democrats insist on running with Biden in 2024, they’ll be “walking into a slaughter with their eyes wide open.” Will we eventually see the party nominate a traditional, solid progressive who can run a decent campaign? Well, while he’s ruled out running himself, Uygur has an idea about that…
4.“I’m Planting a Flag” – Cenk Uygur is Mainstream Progressive
In a major announcement for the Young Turks, Uygur officially declared that TYT is now “Mainstream Progressive.” As he defined it, this means supporting Bernie Sanders’ positions like paid family leave, Medicare for all, and getting corporate cash out of politics.
Uygur described this new vision as “creating a home” for progressives that feel betrayed by the woke corruption of the Democratic Party and want to push back against radical minority Leftist positions. A “Mainstream Progressive” will instead focus on issues that can unite people and make real changes…but as Uygur and PBD showed, even identifying those issues can be difficult.
5.“He’s a Ukrainian Gas Expert and a Major Painter” – Is the Biden Family Corrupt?
To conclude the episode, Uygur and PBD unpacked the revelations from the Congressional testimony of Devon Archer, Hunter Biden’s former friend and business partner. According to his testimony, President Joe Biden took phone calls from his son’s foreign contacts—but they only ever talked about the weather.
Uygur argued that despite all the evidence against Hunter, there has been no proof of President Biden being involved in any sort of corruption.
