Former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was hospitalized in Luxembourg after sustaining an injury during a congressional delegation trip commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. Her office confirmed she is receiving excellent medical care but did not specify the nature of the injury.

According to a statement from Pelosi’s office, the 84-year-old congresswoman “sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation,” where she is “currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals.”

“She continues to work and regrets that she is unable to attend the remainder of the CODEL engagements to honor the courage of our service members during one of the greatest acts of American heroism in our nation’s history,” the statement said. “Speaker Emerita Pelosi conveys her thanks and praise to our veterans and gratitude to people of Luxembourg and Bastogne for their service in World War II and their role in bringing peace to Europe.”

Pelosi continues to work from the hospital and expressed regret over missing the remainder of the delegation’s engagements.

A report from the Wall Street Journal indicated that Pelosi tripped after taking a group photo with other attendees.
