MSNBC announced over the weekend that longstanding anchor Joy Reid’s primetime show, “The ReidOut,” has been canceled—a crushing blow to tens of fans across the country. The cancelation of Reid’s show, which the ultra-progressive pundit has hosted since 2020, comes as part of a network overhaul led by new president Rebecca Kutler, aimed at regaining lost viewership.
Reid’s controversial rhetoric, particularly her anti-Trump sentiments, has drawn constant criticism for both herself and the network, while also providing frequent ammunition for opponents across the political aisle.

“The ReidOut” has fluctuated wildly in audience size over the years, but steeply declined since the 2024 election, averaging just 973,000 in February 2025.
The show will air its final episode this week, Reid confirmed on social media, and she is expected to exit the network shortly after. From then on, the 7 pm timeslot will be filled by a panel comprised of MSNBC journalist Alicia Menendez, political commentator Symone Sanders Townsend, and former RNC chairman Michael Steele. The trio currently hosts “The Weekend” on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Meanwhile, fellow host Alex Wagner, who was slated to return to the 9 pm nightly slot currently held by Rachel Maddow, will likely be cut to make room for former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who has been producing content on Sundays and Mondays.
Following the announcement, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social, celebrating the downfall of his longtime critic and the network that has propped her up.
“Lowlife Chairman of ‘Concast,’ Brian Roberts, the owner of Ratings Challenged NBC and MSDNC, has finally gotten the nerve up to fire one of the least talented people in television, the mentally obnoxious racist, Joy Reid,” Trump wrote. “Based on her ratings, which were virtually non-existent, she should have been ‘canned’ long ago, along with everyone else who works there.”
Trump also railed against “seriously failing Rachel Maddow,” “LOW IQ Con Man Al Sharpton,” and others at the network, calling them “nothing more than an illegal arm of the Democrat Party.”
“They should be forced to pay vast sums of money for the damage they’ve done to our Country,” Trump declared. “Fake News is an UNPARDONABLE SIN!”
The shakeups at MSNBC come as Comcast, the network’s parent company, takes steps to spin it off from NBC News, which could reportedly lead to the struggling network being sold off entirely.
