Microsoft Africa has launched an ambitious initiative aimed at training one million South Africans in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity by 2026, as announced by President Lillian Barnard during the company’s AI Tour in Johannesburg.
This program is part of a broader vision to equip four million African youths with essential digital skills, recognizing the continent’s significant youth population.

The initiative includes the introduction of a free AI Skills Navigator portal to help users assess and enhance their AI knowledge.
Barnard emphasized the importance of collaboration with various stakeholders to expand the reach of this training.
“By providing skilling opportunities and access to industry-recognized certifications, our youth will be well positioned to compete on the global stage,” Barnard said.
