A bat boy for the LA Dodgers saved star pitcher Shohei Ohtani from being hit in the face by a speeding foul ball with an amazing catch Wednesday night. Ohtani, who just made Dodgers history by getting his 10th consecutive game with an RBI, was standing in the dug out unexpectantly during a game against the Chicago White Sox when the ball nearly smashed him.

Luckily, a lowly bat boy was on the alert, and with sheer adrenaline reflexes caught the ball without flinching.

The hero of the day selflessly handed off the ball to a fan. Ohtani was reportedly amazed by the save, thanking the bat boy before the camera panned away.

Ohtani has hit four RBIs against the White Sox in this series. He was the fifth Dodger player to hit his ninth consecutive RBO on Tuesday, and the first since Matt Kemp accomplished it in 2011-2012.

“Just really swinging at pitches that I’m supposed to swing at within the zone and making sure that I’m laying off pitches outside the zone,” Ohtani told CBS Sports through a translator.
