Vice President Kamala Harris announced on Tuesday she will be going on a nationwide tour to advocate for abortion rights in early 2024.

Called “The Reproductive Freedoms Tour,” it aims to “fight back against” what Harris calls “extremist attacks” on abortion that have occurred ever since the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision in 2022 allowed states to set their own protocol of abortion law. It will kick off with a Jan. 22 event in Wisconsin to commemorate the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which guaranteed access to abortion services as a constitutional right, and she plans to board a tour bus afterwards for a roadtrip across the country.

“Extremists across our country continue to wage a full-on attack against hard-won, hard-fought freedoms as they push their radical policies — from banning abortion in all 50 states and criminalizing doctors, to forcing women to travel out of state in order to get the care they need,” Harris said in an official statement.

“I will continue to fight for our fundamental freedoms while bringing together those throughout America who agree that every woman should have the right to make decisions about her own body — not the government.”

“We’re going to be organizing, we’re going to be gathering, we’re going to be building coalition and community to fight for reproductive freedom,” she said with minimal enthusiasm. “There is a full-on attack in our country against the ability of people to just make decisions about their own body and their own life.”

The tour will showcase the “harm” caused by abortion bans and feature testimonials from people who have been affected by them. Harris claims she will hold “extremists accountable” for calls of a national ban on abortion. She will also be pushing for Congress to restore the constitutional mandate from Roe and introduce an agenda for the Biden administration to strengthen abortion access.
