The order was made by U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, and it removed a gun-possession charge that has been replaced by a three-count indictment, according to an Associated Press report.

Now, Hunter is charged with having violated laws related to drug users owning firearms. Hunter admitted he was “struggling with addiction” when he acquired the revolver in question in 2018.

Hunter pleaded not guilty on Oct. 3 to the three federal gun charges. His lawyers claimed he did not break the law and endeavored to have the indictment fully dismissed before it went to trial.

As it stands, no new charges related to tax-related crimes have been placed on Hunter. In July, Hunter was going to plead guilty to misdemeanor tax counts, until the deal collapsed when Judge Noreika successfully questioned it.
