The Kamala Harris campaign announced a significant fundraising milestone on Sunday, claiming to have raised $540 million since she launched her presidential bid following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal in July.

The Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago played a pivotal role, contributing $82 million to the total, with the best fundraising hour occurring immediately after Harris’s acceptance speech. This record-breaking haul has been bolstered by nearly 200,000 volunteer shifts, demonstrating strong grassroots support.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump, despite being a formidable fundraiser, has raised less in comparison, with $138.7 million reported for July.

The upcoming debate between Harris and Trump is already contentious, with disagreements over microphone muting rules and Trump’s possible absence from the event. Fundraising data will be independently confirmed in the next Federal Election Commission report due on September 20.
